History & Founding

ECFCO is a 501(c)3, tax-exempt, nonprofit organization.

Formally incorporated as East Coast Food Conservation Organization, INC. in December of 2019, ECFCO originated from the Brockport Middle School cafeteria, where students noticed an excessive amount of food waste occurring. With the help of teachers and community members, ECFCO's original mission of reducing food waste soon expanded to include a focus on addressing food insecurity within the greater Brockport area.

While fruit collection has been temporarily suspended for the foreseeable future, ECFCO expanded our operation to gardening and the BHS Food shelf, founded in 2021 and 2022, respectively. We invite you to stop by and visit us sometime!

Board of Directors

ECFCO currently has 2 Board Trustees, who oversee the Executive Director and the organization.
